Jon Morris, ’05, founder and CEO of Rise Interactive credits adaptability and strong recruiting with the digital marketing agency’s success.

A 2004 New Venture Challenge finalist, Rise Interactive recognized the potential of data analytics early. The firm started hiring people “who were comfortable living in numbers,” Morris explained in a September 3 Forbes profile. “You have to be vigilant about having the right people and putting them in the right spots.”

And in terms of placement, the Chicago-based agency continues to top industry lists. Rise Interactive ranked 22 on this year’s Agency Post list of the top 100 fastest-growing agencies in the United States and was awarded the 2013 Illinois Excellence Award by the Small Business Institute for Excellence in Commerce (SBIEC). The agency also took home the gold award in the social media category at the Business Marketing Association’s annual Tower Awards in Chicago.

Bolstered by big name brands, including CVS, ConAgra Foods, and Apartments.com, the agency saw a 40 percent revenue jump from 2011 to 2012. But “growing an agency is more than just a large client roster,” Morris said in a September 11 Digital Journal article. “It takes a strong and productive team to ensure we deliver our clients the best return on their digital marketing investment.”—Ally Batty
