A "Hidden Gem" of an Art Collection

Published on July 26, 2013

How This Works, a 2007 oil on linen painting by American artist Jaqueline Humphries, is installed in the Harper Center just beyond the glass atrium of the Rothman Winter Garden.

Chicago Booth’s art collection is composed of contemporary works in a variety of mediums and is displayed throughout the Harper Center’s six levels. Artwork selections are made by a five-member committee chaired by Canice Prendergast, W. Allen Wallis Professor of Economics and Booth Faculty Fellow.

The collection recently was covered in Chicago magazine, “How the University of Chicago Booth School Got an Amazing Art Collection,” and in Bloomberg Businessweek, “The Best-Kept Secret in the Chicago Art World is a B-School.”

The collection is free and open to the public during normal business hours from Monday through Saturday. Visit the Art Collection website to learn more about the artists and view featured works.
